Business Letter Vocabulary Technology Applications

Inside Address The address of the person you are writing to.

Salutation Greeting of the letter, more formal in business letters. Example: Dear Sir: To Whom it May Concern:

Body Paragraphs of letter

Complimentary Closing How you end the letter. Example: Sincerely, Thank you

Typed Name 3 spaces separate the complimentary closing and your typed name. After you print your letter, you sign your name in the space.

Your Address Although your address is usually located in the center at the top of the letter (called Letter-head stationary), in some business letters, you will include your address after your typed name.

Reference Initials Initials of person who typed the letter.

Block Letter Format All lines of letter are left justified. Paragraphs are not indented.
