Report to TAC: Student Activities Committee Dolores S. Krausche, FLA CTR ENG EDU, Liaison from the Student Activities Committee Statistics: Rachel Andino, Coordinator, Student Programs January 8, 2015

Agenda: Continue SAC’s programs to sponsor student conferences, awards and competitions, including the International Student Conference and award presentations held at SciTech. Institute the revised RFP process for AIAA’s student design competitions, encouraging TC participation and collaboration. Foster further communication between the student branches, Deputy Directors of Education and the Public Policy Committee. Endorse AIAA’s Public Policy Issues and activities, such as Congressional Visit Day. Among the recommendations is support for increasing outreach and providing centralized resources for STEM educators in the development of educational and workforce programs. 2

Summary of Activities: More than 7,800 members; 180 active student branches 8 Regional conferences, including international conferences in Prague and Sydney, Australia 263 Papers were presented in categories including 148 Undergraduate, 52 Graduate, 48 Teams, 15 Community Outreach 15 Awards and scholarships 12 Undergraduate, 3 Graduate, 6 Aircraft, engine, space design competitions 80 Teams participated in the Design/Build/Fly Competition Students comprise 18% of all attendees to AIAA’s conferences 3
