THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP? FSM

A SIGNIFICANT GAP REMAINS DESPITE BEING SCALBY’S KEY PRIORITY FOR TWO YEARS FSM

SCALBY’S ACHIEVEMENT GAP 5+ A*-C with English and Maths gap between FSM and the rest of the cohort: 40% in % in 2015 The national gap was 24% in levels progress gap: Maths 32% in % in 2015 English 25% in % in 2015

ESSENTIAL FOCUS FOR 2015/16 closing the achievement gap

The strategy for 2015/16 Appointment of Chris Robertson to the post of Achievement Co- ordinator with a ‘narrow the gap’ focus. A new plan focusing on all year groups rather than on interventions with year 11. An emphasis on the development of literacy across the school. Greater focus on the attendance of PP students which is the most important factor in under-achievement. Review of our plan by an independent PP ‘specialist’.
