Residuals
Residual analysis is an important indicator of departmental performance. It looks at how departments have performed within the school compared to other subjects
At HWS we use Residual vs National as one of our key indicators – this takes into additional account the differences in student outcomes on a national scale – e.g. the fact that students typically get higher grades in some subjects over others
However, the following data is based on last year’s national results hence these are estimates only at this stage

22. Some Initial Thoughts GCSE Post 16
Early analysis shows that intervention resulted in many success stories - well done for all the many hours of extra support
GCSE performance is again significantly above the national average for progress – as it has been for the last 5 years
We have to look carefully at our trends. There is an interesting contrast between boys and girls with attainment and progresses telling conflicting stories
Post 16
Our overall A2 ALPS is a 3 (top 25%) which is positive and maintains our three year average
Some really strong performances at A2 from some departments. Many sustaining consistently high results.
