HIRING TIMELINE AND COMPENSATION FOR PRACTICUMS  Summer is the most common  February and March - peak periods for practicum postings  Most private sector firms (pharmaceutical, biotech, medical devices, contract research organization (CRO’s), academic medical centers conducting drug trials, health insurers evaluating drugs costs, consulting firms analyzing markets and pricing) pay an hourly rate  Nonprofit organizations and government agencies are often unpaid  If you ask someone to host you for a practicum, understand they may not have a budget to pay but it could be a valuable experience
