What needs to be completed today: O Today, you need to find ALL the quotes you plan to use in your essay. O You need to EMBED them. O Look at the Writing Basics Packet for additional tips on embedding quotes. 1. He said/She said 2. Colon 3. Natural flow of sentence

What needs to be completed today: O Work on commentary and intro/conclusion planning of essay. O Make sure you write AT LEAST two sentences of commentary per quote. O Look at the Writing Basics Packet for introduction/conclusion tips. O Reminder: Library time tomorrow. You can only be at a computer if your shaping sheet is complete.

Your conclusion should simply review the main points of your paper (just be careful to not restate them exactly). Your conclusion is a good place to make a useful analogy or comparison.

Commentary Topic Sentence Notice how the commentary identifies the literary device, but it DOES NOT STOP THERE. Simply stating, “This quote shows diction by Golding” is insufficient.
