The Virginia Company hereby has permission from the king of England to settle North America - ________- is a legal document giving certain rights to a person or company to settle an area.

Charter Rights The Royal Charter gave the Virginia Company the right to settle lands in the region of present-day Virginia. The Royal Charter also guaranteed that even though colonists would be in another land, they would still have the same ______ as English citizens.
