What is Auschwitz ? Auschwitz was a concentration camp during the second world war. This camp was in Poland. There was three main camps Auschwitz 1, Auschwitz 2 and Auschwitz 3 Auschwitz 1 was the biggest camp here is a picture of it

The three camps All of the camps had thousands of people in them and killing just as many everyday if the people were to weak or not well. They only keep the people if they think they will be of use to them. They make them work very hard and don’t give them much food at all.

Alan Jacobs Alan Jacobs has been to Auschwitz many times During those visits, he interviewed numerous survivors and took many photos of the camps. Here are some of his photos

The boy in striped pyjamas There is a book on this camp called The Boy in Striped Pyjamas the book just tells the story about what happened and about the man that ran the camp and his family. The main character in this book is called Bruno he is the son of the person that ran the camp. He did not like living in his new house next to the camp but he was only nine and did not understand what was going on.

The boy in striped pyjamas Bruno was a very curious little boy and one day he was out for a walk and met a boy that was in the concentration camp -on the other side of the fence- Bruno still did not know what the camp was. But made friends with the little boy.
