Sitecore.net Training, Oct ECM 2.1 UPDATE 2 PART 1 CRAWL BEFORE YOU WALK

Agenda  What is new in ECM 2  What is custom on sitecore.net  Strategy for transition to ECM 2  Possible scenarios on sitecore.net for transition  Creating new  Working with existing s: drafts or sent  Plan for next training sessions

 Mute yourself if there are sounds around you  I am recording this session  You can ask questions during presentation  We will go through PPT and then Demo  Test Engineer, Oksana Simeniuk, is my backup. She is leading the ECM 2 testing effort on sitecore.net Housekeeping

Sitecore.net ECM Upgrade  Currently we are on ECM 1.3  Upgrading to ECM 2.1 Update 2 What is new in ECM 2.0 What is new in ECM 2.1 Update 2

What is New in ECM 2.0  More intuitive, more task based user interface, which is designed to suit the needs of marketing users  New Recipient List concept that replaces the Target Audience concept  Support for the A/B/N Testing of the message body  Major improvements:  Improved reporting capabilities  New message types which are more in line with marketing standards  Integration with Design Importer, which lets import a design for a message from a webpage/html

What is New – ECM 2.1 Update 2?  Ability to send messages with a multi-lingual support  Ability to create different language content with ease  Ability to filter reports by the content languages  Easier access to the Executive Insight Dashboard  Extend ECM Engagement Plans

What is Custom on Sitecore.net  Newsletter Templates

What is Custom on Sitecore.net  Subscription handling

What is Custom on Sitecore.net  DMS Campaign Wizard DMS to CRM integration

What will we postpone to turn on?  Using ECM with different or multiple languages Sending a language version upon user language preference defined in the user profile  Using Design Importer

Strategy for ECM 2 on Sitecore.net  Crawl: learn how to use new interface  Walk: learn how to use new functionality  Run: learn how to use automation  Fly: be creative; be careful not to fall

Plan for Session 1 - Crawling  How to learn using new interface and do what we used to do  Changes in the Content Tree and concept of the Recipient List  Create new message  Create subscription template  Reuse old messages

Your typical steps in new interface  Creating a message  Building a Recipient List Populate Marketing Opt-In List in CRM  Reviewing a message  Testing a message ECM testing Dispatching to your seed list  Dispatching a message  Reviewing reports

Today’s training scenarios 1.Create a new One Time Message Use existing seed list Send Test message Dispatch Duplicate dispatched message Remove the Recipient List Build a new Recipient List Update the Opt-In and Opt-out roles Update Opt-in Marketing list in CRM

Creating a new message  Naming convention for name: Start with your Region ISO code Use Asset codes for better identification Example:  US WB CX Maturity Model Partner

ECM 2 New Message Type  One Time Message Every time new recipients list  Subscription Message intended to be dispatched regularly to a specific recipient list lets you skip the Recipients step “From” address will be preset  Triggered Message Sent to a single person at a time, when triggered by a specific event Example: a message to user registered for a website, or to a user who visited the website once but has not returned for three weeks. Do not have a fixed or defined number of recipients, since the module knows the recipient only when an events or a condition is triggered by that recipient. 6:45

Access ECM Directly : - Staging for practicinghttp://staging.dk.sitecore.net/speak From Backend – Page Editor – or Start menu

Send what?  Create a message

Create a New One Time Message

Create One Time Message

How to Edit a Message  Edit subject and body  Add tokens to message and body  Add links  Set alternative text  Add attachment 6:50

Send to whom?  Create a Recipient List

ECM 2 Recipient Lists = ECM Target Audiences  In ECM 1.x you had to create and define a target audience before creating an message  In ECM 2.x you can create a message first and then build a recipient list for it or choose an existing list. This gives you increased flexibility for creating your campaigns Newly created Recipients Lists are not in the regional folders but by year/day/time Marketer needs to remember/lookup names of the lists to reuse them through search or find them in backend 6:50

New Structure Old Structure Target Audience became Recipient List Standard Messages became Service Messages New Messages after upgrade

Recipients Build a List  A recipient is an individual with an associated address that receives messages  ECM stores recipients in recipient lists  On sitecore.net recipient lists are CRM Marketing Lists You can create an empty CRM Marketing Lists from ECM – Opt-in and Opt-Out You populate members to the Marketing list in CRM Clean up empty CRM Marketing lists if you not going to use them

ECM 2 – Build Recipient List  You define a Recipient List in ECM which will create a pair of Marketing Lists in CRM:  opt-in role  opt-out role

Recipient Lists  Building a New Recipient List  Viewing a Recipient List  Building an Opted Out List  Viewing an Opted Out List

Reviewing a Message  When you prepared a message, you can review it using the following options: Send a quick test Preview a message in different clients Perform a spam check

Testing a message  Send a quick test to yourself  External links will not work  Unsubscribe link will not work  Dispatch to a small list of s – send list Check all links Check unsubscribe links

ECM 2 - Dispatch

Prepare for dispatching to the real list  Duplicate the message  Remove the Recipient list  Build new Recipient list  Update Opt-in and Opt-out lists  Dispatch

Demo  Create One Time message 7:00

Subscription Message  Intended to be dispatched regularly to a specific recipient list  Lets you skip the Recipients step  Fields will be preset 7;20

Subscription Message  You can modify the recipient list for a specific subscription message before dispatching if you want  This will not affect other subscription messages that are based on the same template.  You can save messages as subscription messages using the Save as Subscription Message action  The Save as a Subscription Template operation changes the type of the original message, it does not copy the message.  If you want to keep the original message intact, you may want to duplicate it before saving it as a subscription message.  You can save as a Subscription Message Template 6:45

Subscription Message  If you want to make a Subscription Template Duplicate message Save it as a Subscription Template  Start creating from the Subscription Template 7:00

How to Find an Existing Message  Recently Dispatched Does not show Triggered messages and messages in the Draft state.  Search Messages Shows all messages that exist in the current ECM manager root  Draft Messages Shows messages that have been created but have not been sent yet

Reuse old converted messages  Search or find in the backend

After release  Clear your browser cache  Clean cookies

Summary: what we learned  Crawl: learn how to use new interface  Create a new message  Create a new Recipient List  Reuse existing Recipient List

Summary  ECM 2.1 Update 2 will be on production on Oct 21, 2013  ECM 2.1 U2 is installed on staging server  Sitecore Campaign Manager Marketer’s Guide can be found at  You will have a “How To” specific for sitecore.net document  Recorded meeting and PPT will be provided
