Introduction What is Energy Meter? What is Prepaid remote Energy meter? How Over Voltage is protected and detected ?

PROBLEM STATEMENT Electricity demand is on the increase. As population increases, comes more demand for electricity supply/consumption. Demand per capita is increasing due to large no. of gadgets in use. Demand from developing countries is also on the rise. “How can we manage customer consumption of electricity in response to supply condition, for example having electricity customers reduce their consumption at critical times"

BRIEFING We will interface digital energy meter to the easy recharge unit and hence converts it into a prepaid energy meter. By using this technology, we will be able to minimize the losses occurred by corrupt employees. This also helps in the protection of Over Voltage

Energy Meter Energy meter is a device that measures the amount of electrical energy is consumed. The meters fall into two categories: Electronic meter Electromechanical meter Electromechanical induction meter operates by counting the revolutions of aluminum disc which is made to rotate at a speed proportional to the power.

ARM7 & ARM9 ARM7 ARM9 Von neumann architecture. Harvard architecture, 32 bit RISC micro controller. 3 stage pipeline. 5 stage pipeline. Single memory for Data and Instructions. Seperate instruction and Data for memory interface.

GSM Modem A GSM modem is one of the wireless modem that is devised to work with a GSM wireless network. Used for text Sending and Receving. Support wide range of frequencies (from 850 MHZ to 1900 MHZ for different classification of GSM networks). In this we use SIM 300 mini GSM module for communication.

Over voltage Detection LED blink receives train of pulses applied to interupt pin of ARM7 Electronic meter consists of LED,which blinks according to power consumption. If Power consumption is more LED blinks faster & Over Voltage is Detected.

How Energy Meter is Interfaced House GSM network Energy Meter ARM7 GSM Modem Electricity Board Office GSM Modem ARM7 & Energy meter Is interface with GSM Network. GSM Modem is Present at Office & at consumer side.

GSM Initialization Initialization Of GSM GSM sends notification to authenticated number through SMS.

System Implementation Authorized number sends SMS to GSM Modem an interrupt signal is occured. ARM7 reads the pulse and sends status of pulse and units.

ARM9 Screen Display Once recharge is done units are displayed on ARM9 We can know consumed units through SMS by giving missed to GSM Modem

If Recharged Units are Consumed The devices will be SWITCHED OFF and displayed on ARM9. Alert message is send to authenticated number

Advantages

Disadvantages Billing system fails if no GSM network coverage. Charges may be applicable for network use. Requries fixed GSM number.

CONCLUSION This pre-paid remote energy meter proves to be a boon in the power sector. Control the usage of electricity on consumer side to avoid wastage of power. Helps to the country revenue by stopping current theft and punishing the dishonest customers.
