ABSTRACT  This circuit turns on the horn of the bike to alert you of the impending theft if anybody tries to steal your bike.  A handle lock is used on the handle bar for the safety of bikes, this circuit consists of transmitter and receiver sections.  The transmitter (IR LED) is fitted on the back end of the front mudguard and the receiver sensor (IR RX) is fitted on the central portion of the crash guard of the bike.  The IR rays from the transmitter directly fall on the IR receiver sensor, when the front mudguard comes in line with the body of the bike.  The signal from the IR Rx will be given to microcontroller which waits for some time and disables the engine even though the Ignition switch is ON.

INTRODUCTION  Our project, “Anti-theft alerting system for a two wheeler”, Is aimed at providing security to our vehicles from being stolen.  This is a combination of both embedded systems and a transmitter and receiver sections.  An embedded system is a special-purpose computer, it performs one or few predefined tasks, usually with very specific requirements.  Embedded systems ranges from portable devices to large stationary installations like traffic lights, factory controllers, digital watches and MP3 players  Personal digital assistant, videogame consoles, handheld computer, medical equipment are some of the examples of embedded system

HARDWARE COMPONENTS  Microcontroller  IR transmitter  IR receiver  LCD  Motor  Buzzer

SOFTWARE USED  Keil software  Embedded ‘C’  Express PCB  Express schematic

MICROCONTROLLER  The microcontroller used here is AT89S51.  This is a 40 pin IC  It is compatible with the industry- standard 8052 instruction set and pin out.  The device is manufactured using Atmel’s high-density nonvolatile memory technology.

IR TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER  Here the IR transmitter is nothing but the IR LED, it transmits the IR signals.  The light output is not visible by our eyes.  IR signals fall on the IR Receiver in a continuous form.  IR LEDs can be used as replacement for remote controls, night vision for camcorders, invisible beam sensors, etc.

LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY This project makes use of liquid crystal to display the status of the project. LCDs were found wide spread usage replacing LEDs in the recent years. LCDs were used exclusively in watches, calculators, tv applications etc.,

DC MOTORS  A dc motor consists of a rotor and a permanent magnetic field stator.  In this circuit we use motor as a engine of the bike.  Motors are the devices that provide the actual speed and torque in a drive system.  In any electric motor, operation is based on simple electromagnetism.

BUZZER  In this circuit, buzzer is used for alerting the owner of bike when any one try for theft.  These buzzers are offered in lightweight compact sizes  These are applied widely in alarms, speakers, telephone ringers, receivers, transmitters, etc.

WORKING  Our project is basically aimed at building a system which provides security to our vehicles.  The circuit will alert the owner by sounding the buzzer if any one try for theft of bike.  In this project we use DC motor as the engine and LCD to indicate the status of the bike.

 There are two main sections :  The transmitter section.  The receiver section  We will arrange IR transmitter at the mud guard of bike and IR receiver at crash guard.  As transmitter and the receiver are in LOS, signal transmitted by the transmitter will directly fall on the IR receiver.  When signal from IR receiver are given to the micro controller, the engine will be disable, even though the ignition switch is ON.

ADVANTAGES  There are several benefits to have a anti theft system installed in your vehicle.  The most obvious benefit is that it can thwart would-be thieves and prevent your bike and other belongings from being stolen.  Lower rates from insurance companies.  Having a anti theft system also helps you to have some peace of mind when it comes to your vehicle.

FUTURE ASPECTS  Use of GSM technology.  Vehicle alarms.  Mechanical and electronic immobilizer.  Vehicle tracking

CONCLUSION  The project “anti theft alerting system for vehicles(two wheeler )” has been successfully designed and tested.  Integrating features of all the hardware components used have developed it.  Presence of every module has been reasoned out and placed carefully thus contributing to the best working of the unit.  Secondly, using highly advanced IC’s and with the help of growing technology the project has been successfully implemented.
