Collaboration through Networking 2 StateNets Strives to: Develop our next generation of network leaders Build consensus with colleagues across the country Build unity among various national organizations

Collaboration through Networking 3 Centers of Excellence Create shared service centers of excellence in various areas over time Identify best practices; pool our talent and expertise Avoid reinvention and encourage innovation Recent successful examples include efforts to develop best practice models such as: the Financial Focus Group; and Videoconferencing center of excellence Need organizational processes that will seek out areas like these and create centers to foster member collaboration and innovation

Collaboration through Networking 4 Future Technologies Tracking Teams An effort to identify developing technologies and applications important to R&E Networks and to form joint tracking teams that would monitor progress: Examine what’s being developed Provide reports/updates to advise StateNets members of developing innovative trends and Estimate when they might be ready for implementation An example might include a team that focuses on Federated Identity Management or Optical Futures

Collaboration through Networking 5 StateNets Leadership Development Institute Report identified the vital importance of building the leadership capacity of StateNets What can we do to develop the next generation CEOs Develop a list of the knowledge, skills and abilities we agree are essential to the success of leadership roles Formalize a leadership development program that will identify, educate and prepare future leaders to effectively engage in consensus building and to represent StateNets on strategic issues
