“Journal acknowledges that Author retains the right to provide a copy of the final peer-reviewed manuscript to the NIH upon acceptance for Journal publication, for public archiving in PubMed Central as soon as possible but no later than 12 months after publication by Journal.”

Your agreement with the publisher should also stipulate:  Which submission method will be used  Which version of the document will be uploaded to PMC: the manuscript or the article  Who will submit the document  When will it be submitted  Who will approve the submission  When it will be made public on PMC

AMENDMENT TO PUBLICATION AGREEMENT THIS Amendment, effective as of the last date of signature hereon, modifies the attached Publication Agreement concerning the following Article: ______________________________________________________________________________ (Manuscript title) ______________________________________________________________________________ (Journal name) The parties to the Publication Agreement and to this Amendment are: ______________________________________________________________________________ (“Author”), and ______________________________________________________________________________ (“Publisher”). 1. The parties agree that wherever there is any conflict between this Amendment and the Publication Agreement, the provisions of this Amendment are paramount and the Publication Agreement shall be construed accordingly. 2. Notwithstanding any terms in the Publication Agreement to the contrary and in addition to the rights retained by Author or licensed by Publisher to Author in the Publication Agreement and any fair use rights of Author, Author and Publisher agree that the Author shall also retain the following rights: "Journal acknowledges that Author retains the right to provide a copy of the final manuscript to the NIH upon acceptance for Journal publication, for public archiving in PubMed Central as soon as possible but no later than 12 months after publication by Journal." 3. Final Agreement. This Amendment and the Publication Agreement, taken together, constitute the final agreement between the Author and the Publisher with respect to the publication of the Article and allocation of rights under copyright in the Article. Any modification of or additions to the terms of this Amendment or to the Publication Agreement must be in writing and executed by both Publisher and Author in order to be effective.
