Objectives After this unit, you should be able to… Know different types of parties; Describe the major festivals like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Spring festivals, etc; Extend, accept and refuse invitations; Talk about parties;

What do people do at the parties? At a baby shower, female friends of the would-be mother will give gifts of baby items to her, such as nursing bottle, diaper, bassinet, etc. At a slumber party, boys or girls play games, eat snacks and stay up very late. At a housewarming party, friends of the host or hostess who just moved to a new house will be invited to come and see the house, and usually they will take some gifts like a set of china, a painting or some other items with them. A surprise party is usually organized for someone’s birthday by his or her friends, when the party is kept a secret from him/herself.
