Greater Than Jesus

Opening Questions What are some of the biggest (most important) things in your life? If you could rearrange your priorities, what would you change?

What is greater than God and worse than the devil? The poor have it, the rich need it, and if you eat it you’ll die. NOTHING

Jesus called his twelve disciples and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness. They drove out many demons and healed many sick people. (Matthew 10:1, Mark 6:13)

John said, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” Jesus answered, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a miracle in my name can say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us.” (Mark 9:38-40)

The Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two. “Heal the sick there and tell them the kingdom of God has come.” The seventy-two returned with joy saying, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” (Luke 10:1,9,17)

The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. People brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. (Acts 5:12,15)

When handkerchiefs or aprons that had merely touched Paul’s skin were placed on sick people, they were healed of their diseases, and evil spirits were expelled. (Acts 19:12)

The disciple Tabitha died, and her body was put in an upstairs room. Lydia sent for Peter. Peter got on his knees and prayed, then said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and sat up. He called for the believers, and presented her to them alive. (Acts 9:36-41)

“You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.” Immediately, darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. (Acts 13:11)

Ananias and his wife Sapphira sold some property, and kept part of the money. Ananias gave the rest to the apostles. Peter said, “You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” Ananias fell down and died. Later his wife also lied about the money. Peter said, “The men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” (Acts 5:1-10)

Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12) do even greater things than these

Jesus said, “If I go, I will prepare a place for you. I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:3)

Jesus told them, “It is best for you that I go away. Because if I don't, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.” (John 16:7) “It is best for you that I go away.

“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.” “The Spirit of truth will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.” (John 14:16, 16:14)

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” “I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” (John 14:26, Luke 24:49) But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes

He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” (John 20:22-23)

Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. This love surpasses knowledge. You will be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Galatians 5:6, Ephesians 3:9)

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is encouraging, then encourage; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is leading, lead diligently; if it is mercy, do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6-8)

To one the Spirit gives wisdom, to another knowledge, to another faith, to another healing, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another discernment, to another speaking in different tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues. (1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
