College of Business and Technology School of Engineering and Information Systems

SEIS includes the Department of Engineering & Technology Management and the Department of Computer Science & Information Systems. We offer associate, bachelor and master degree programs with hands-on learning opportunities in computers, robotics, 3D printing and more. With the completion of the new 21 st Century Center for Manufacturing Systems, students gain even more hands-on skills that will give them an edge in a competitive job market. Who are we?

All of our programs are applied engineering and technology-based with the majority of courses providing quality experiences in our state-of-the- art laboratories. Our faculty members are experts in their respective disciplines and stay current in their fields by conducting scholarly research and continually engaging in professional development activities. Who are we?

The SEIS primary purpose is to prepare advanced technology/engineering management graduates and contribute to the economic development of the region and beyond. Our graduates are well prepared for careers in their respective fields. They are prepared to enter into a wide range of positions in industry, business, education and the government. What do we do?

Accreditation The BS in Engineering Technology and MS in Engineering and Technology Management are accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE).

Accreditation The BBA in Information Systems is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The first of its kind in the state, the center is designed to allow students in SEIS access to hands-on learning opportunities with industry- leading technology. The Center is providing exciting opportunities for generations of students and ushering in the next level of global manufacturing and technology in the state of Kentucky. 21 st Century Center for Manufacturing Systems

The Center, in collaboration with industry, provides opportunities for students to work on applied engineering projects that integrate mechanical, electrical, computer and control system components. This highly skilled workforce should attract new businesses to the region, provide their employers with a strong competitive edge and will possess the capacity to start new enterprises leading to future job creation. 21 st Century Center for Manufacturing Systems

Current Research Dr. Jorge Ortega-Moody - Automation –In response to the need for better training and development in automation and control systems, a virtual laboratories of real industries scenarios. The objective is to replicate actuators and sensors that all operate with the same characteristics of their physical components. Dr. Hans Chapman with student Robert Rowlett –This project seeks to demonstrate that renewable electrical energy can be produced through magnetic induction in the absence of nonrenewable sources.

Current MS Theses Caiwen Ding - Design and analysis of a LabVIEW and Arduino-based automatic solar tracking system John M. Awbrey - Application of ergonomic principles in computer workstations to alleviate health risks from extended computer use Matt Watson - Design Refinement by Iterative Virtual Experimentation (DRIVE): A methodology to solving engineering design problems Feng Gao - Benefits use Lean Six Sigma in reducing customer waiting time of commercial bank industry in China

Current MS Theses Fatemeh Kakhki - Factor Analysis and Yield Optimization of a Billet Manufacturing Process: A Case Study Caiwu Ding - Model based optimization and definition in integrated Engineering design approach: a case study Armin Maraghehmoghaddam - Development of a user interface to communicate with virtual delta robot by Modbus/TCP protocol
