Identity  Vision: a world where national SC workforces are planned, financed, developed and supported in a way that ensures equitable and sustainable access to the medicines and other commodities needed for optimal health outcomes  Mission: to build global and national capacity to implement evidence-based approaches to plan, finance, develop, support and retain the national workforces needed for the effective, efficient and sustainable management of health SC  Goal: to improve health outcomes by developing sustainable excellence in the health workforce for managing SC

Objectives  Recognition among key international and national agencies that: –strong SC performance is requisite for health outcomes –SC are complex systems / requires significant technical and managerial capacity  Harmonization across agencies : required competencies, certifications, pre-service programs …  Governments and national institutions demand technically qualified staff & provide SC managers with appropriate career tracks, support and incentives  Cadres of qualified, professional SC managers working at national and sub-national levels

Benefits  Greater availability of human resources for clinical needs  Reduced dependence on external technical assistance  Greater cost-efficiency in health programs  Cadres of qualified, professional SC managers working in public health institutions at national and sub-national levels  Better SC policy-making, decision-making and performance – better availability of needed health commodities

Approach  Focus on sustainability and strengthening national systems and institutions  Involve a broad array of key stakeholders from global, regional and national organizations  Promote harmonization of approaches across health programs and health organizations at different levels  Develop assistance that acknowledges and accommodates the diversity of country contexts that exist and the diversity of roles among individuals managing supplies
