OUR TREE- NATURE MONUMENT 30 th October 2013

In front of our school there are two mighty trees. Last year, we named them : Tadeusz and John. The first name - Tadeusz - to honor Tadeusz Kosciuszko, the Saint patron of our school. The second name - John - was chosen to commemorate the first headmaster of School No. 1 in Zawiercie, Mr. John Miśniak Our tree

It was a long way to overcome to make our ordinary maples on the school yard natural monuments. The representatives of our school The Students` Council with their teachers handed down the motion to the president of Zawiercie, to consider two maples, growing in our schoolyard, as nature monuments. The motion included a brief description of the place, location, a map of the area of the selected objects. Our tree

In support of the motion we pointed out the perimeter of the first maple’s trunk is 312cm, and the second one is 248 cm, their natural, aesthetic and cultural, and the relationship of clones with the history of the school. While gathering materials concerning the history of our school, we came across some photos, where we could see the building site of our present school. Those maples were the only trees growing on that building site. Then the motion was delivered to the Department of Environmental Protection. Later on, an inspection of the area and of the maples was carried out. Our tree

On 30 th October 2013, a resolution on the establishment of monuments of nature was passed with one voice by The City Council. We want these several – year – old, huge plants to accompany future generations of Secondary School students and to form their ecological demeanors. Our tree
