What is it and what is it used for? It is a web based tool. It is a Web 2.0 technology. It allows a team or group of people to develop a project online – together. Participants access the project through an account. It is very quick and easy to learn and use.

Wiki Applications Staff department pages/staff intranets Group resources Project or policy development Training materials Student Group Projects or assignments Individual web sites (and 1001 other uses!)

Wiki Features Wiki URL Visual Page Editor A Filing System Tool for making Web links Page History Page (content) discussion Access controls – Organisers, members, permissions (10 mins)

Workshop Outline (Hands-on) Log in – My Account, Change password – Edit profile (do this later?) – Mail – Dashboard – My Wikis (select your wiki) (10 mins)

Making Wiki Page Click on New Page – tags (meta tags for searching) Menu navigation Visual Editor (wysiwyg) – Headings, bold, italics, style tool (font sizes, colours, etc) – Bulleted lists – Web links – Tables. 15 mins
