Example 1 Convert Larger Units to Smaller Units Leah is 5 feet tall. She must be 60 inches tall to ride one of the rides. Is she tall enough? Larger units (feet) are being converted to smaller units (inches). Since 1 foot = 12 inches, multiply 5 by × 12 = 60 Answer: So, 5 ft = 60 in. Since 5 feet equals 60 inches, Leah is tall enough to ride. 5 ft = in.
