Presentation transcript:

 Review of operation and how to view your corrected work  Since I gave you the wrong information last week I will not feel good until I give you the corrected version-you can find all of this under unit one-in your manuals in MT client

 2) Find the flashing MT client icon near your computer’s clock and right click.  Select Close transcription. Do not close word using the X at the top right of your window.  3) MT client will automatically close Word for you and save to the MT client server.  This will save your work to the MT client server making it available to transcribe again or check in to be graded. Make sure you do not close Word before closing MT client or your work will be lost.  NOTE: Repeat each step each time you open an assignment to transcribe or to edit your existing work. Every time you repeat the Save As step be sure to click Replace when asked if you want to replace the file of the same name- this will keep your work updated.

Organize your equipment and make sure it all works and is readily available:  foot pedal  headset  computer  speakers  TMS-MT Client Software  reference materials  a good chair  paper for taking notes

Log on to the TMS-MT Client website using the link in your Week 1 Assignments. From the TMS-MT Client website print out these 4 documents: 1.Student User Manual, 2.Student Quick Guide 3.Jump Code 4.Viewing Your Graded Assignments. Read them through carefully.

After reading the manual carefully use it to set up the software on your computer. Once that is done use the Jump Code directions to set up a macro that will allow you to jump from one heading to the next on MT Client when you are transcribing. It will save you time and energy!

Print out the Transcription Aid for the week that you are in found in the Doc Sharing Area. Read the directions at the top of the handout. Read through the word list making note of any words that you do not know how to pronounce. You can go to several websites on the internet that actually pronounce medical words for you.

Once you have done that you are ready to begin LISTENING only to the first dictation. With the handout in front of you listen carefully to the audio for the words that are on the list. Do this at least two or three times BEFORE you even try to begin typing! Use your textbooks, reference books, and the internet as needed.

Now you can begin transcribing. Keep the handout in front of you to ensure that you are spelling and transcribing the words/phrases correctly

Once you have completely transcribed the report. Set it aside. Come back to it a little later and proof and edit the document, do this while listening to the audio and looking at your Transcription Aid. Make any necessary spelling, grammar, and punctuation corrections at this time. Fill in anything that you may have missed.

Set the documents aside again. Make a final proofreading and editing check later BEFORE checking in the document to your instructor.

If after using all of the above steps you still find that you have some blank spaces flag them by using this _____ or inaudible that lets me know that you heard something, it was not on the Transcription Aid, in your textbooks or other references, and you do not want to guess at it.

 Check in all documents by Tuesday night at 11:59 PM in order to earn all of the possible points available.
