OGMP assists departments in the recruitment of under- represented minority PhD students: Campus Visitation Program (CVP) National Name Exchange Graduate Candidate Identification System Diversity Enhancement Board of Education (BOE) Summer Fellowship Program Recruitment and Retention Programs

Underrepresented students eligible for enrollment for fall 2017 Departments must indicate which applicants they would be interested in enrolling Application deadline is September 14th Two Day event Day 1 Overview of UF Funding Preparation to talk with people in their prospective departments Day 2 Meeting faculty and students Application reimbursement Lodging, some meals and travel reimbursement of up to $500 Campus Visitation Program (November 3 rd -4 th )

Available to assist departments in recruiting highly sought after URM students Used to provide a more competitive stipend Applied for by the department during the recruitment process Up to $5,000/year for four years Must be accompanied with departmental support Cannot be awarded in conjunction with a Graduate School fellowship. Board of Education Summer Fellowship The Board of Education (BOE) Summer Fellowship Program welcomes incoming URM-PhD students to graduate education at UF by providing the following: $3500 stipend Four credit hours Assistance with securing housing $100 Gator Dining card for peer mentoring meetings Professional Development Community Service activities Team Building Activities Noncredit Courses: Academic writing

Doctoral Completion: Auzenne Dissertation Award $11, credits Supplemental Tuition Award (All doctoral Students) 3 credits for up to 3 terms Travel Awards: Doctoral Research Travel Award –up to $3,500 Support from advisor and department Once per academic career Conference Travel Support up to $900 Support from advisor and department Matching Funds Supplemental Support

UF MDF Provides: $13,430 for up to 5yrs Tuition Fees Health Insurance Excludes professional degrees Additional exclusions in College of Education FEF provides: Fall and Spring professional conference and summer writing workshop Applications are submitted directly to FEF via their website US Citizens African Americans Hispanics

Information needed from the department Application Process: Information needed from the department Once you have successfully gained access to the list you should see: 1.The applicant’s name 2.The school(s) to which the applicant has applied 3.The program for which the applicant is applying 4.Whether the applicant’s file is complete 5.A link to the applicants full application Check that your recruits application is complete! FEF will accept supporting materials from the Graduate School (OGMP) until Friday, February 19 th.

Over the course of the five-year period, the FEF, UF and the academic unit will assume various responsibilities regarding the student’s funding.

McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Agreement Form Student:_____________________________________________ This award constitutes a five-year commitment by the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Program, the University of Florida (UF), the student and the student’s department/academic unit. Over the course of the five-year period, the Florida Education Fund (FEF), UF and the academic unit will assume various responsibilities regarding the student’s funding. It is understood that the availability of this award is contingent upon funding from the Florida State Legislature and upon student’s satisfactory progress in course work. The UF McKnight Doctoral Fellowship recipients receive the following over a five-year period:  Annual $13,430 stipend  Tuition and fees for 12 credits in the fall and spring, 8 credits in the summer  Health Insurance

Fellows on an appointment of <.24 FTE are required to registered for 12/12/8 credit hours >.24 can petition the graduate school for a reduction McKnight fellows are not expected to TA in the first year Fellows can hold up to a.33 FTE GA/RA/TA –NO OPS or Student Assistant positions Anything above needs approval from the Graduate School Fellows are expect to receive teaching experience therefore should be on appointment.
