Enzyme Uses LO: To learn about the everyday uses of Enzymes

Enzymes are used in Washing powders...to break down food stains Proteins and fats can stain clothes but can be broken down by the enzymes in biological washing powders These enzymes work at low temperatures (35-40 degrees so this can save energy (and so save money)

Enzymes are used to make Slimming Foods Isomerase is added to glucose to turn it into fructose. Fructose is very sweet so you need less of it to make foods sweet. Less sugar equals less calories

Enzymes are used to make baby foods more digestible Protease is added to baby foods to pre digest them which means it is easier for babies to digest.

Enzymes are used to make soft centred chocolates Soft centred chocolates are made out of sucrose and an enzyme called sucrase is added so they turn into glucose and fructose. This gives them that melt in the mouth sensation.

Enzymes are used to make sugar syrup from corn starch syrup. This is used for energy drinks Can you guess the name of the enzyme?
