Cyber Bullying Anti-bullying Week 2009

Cyber Bullying What does it mean? What does it mean? Cyber bullying is when cruel messages or pictures are sent using technology such as mobile phones and computers.

Is it different to other types of bullying ? Not really we still use the STOP guidelines you have probably seen before… Not really we still use the STOP guidelines you have probably seen before… Bullying is hurtful behaviour that happens: Several Times On Purpose

But…… The messages can get very quickly to a lot of people….. And be very upsetting…..

Cyber 5

Here are some of the messages that Cyber 5 received recently I fell out with my friend and she has told all my friends to block me on MSN messenger.

Someone keeps ringing my phone laughing and hanging up. I don’t know who it is

This week I have had 4 texts saying “I hate you”.

Someone took a picture of me being pushed, over on their phone and sent it to everyone in my class.

I told my friend my password and when we fell out she ed nasty messages to my friends so now they are not talking to me.

How did these children feel? Just like with any bullying the children who got the messages said: I don’t want to come to school I don’t want to come to school Everyone hates me Everyone hates me I feel really left out I feel really left out I can’t tell anyone because they will take my phone off me I can’t tell anyone because they will take my phone off me No one will understand No one will understand

A message is just coming in.. Dear Cyber 5 Please help me. I have had three texts on Sunday saying “Wotch out, we’re gonna get u Monday”. I don’t know who they are from but I am scared to go into school. What can I do? Greg

Cyber 5 calls on his 5 cyberheros for advice….. First Step: Start Telling Other People Text a friend Tell a teacher Look online and a website for advice Get on MSN messenger and chat to your friends about what to do Phone a friend

Cyber 5 has good information to anyone being cyber bullied on the phone or the computer.. Don’t reply Keep the messages as evidence Block the bully from your phone, , messenger etc Find support and help from websites like Don’t give your passwords to ANYONE

You can help to Cyber bullying all together.. Think carefully about what you say and what you write in s or texts. Think carefully about what you say and what you write in s or texts. If anyone shows you a cruel message or picture, don’t laugh or forward it on, walk away. If anyone shows you a cruel message or picture, don’t laugh or forward it on, walk away.

Remember…. Forward a nice word or a and you’ll probably get one back….

Together we can Stay Cyber Safe
