Compass: Magnetic north points to magnetic south. Magnetic south points to magnetic north.

If the magnetic north of a compass points to a magnetic south, why is it used to point to north pole? Since the magnetic north of a compass is attracted by the earth geographic north pole, this means that the earth geographic north is a magnetic south. Geographic north is magnetic south Geographic south is magnetic north

Simplified earth magnetic field

Behaviour of magnets: Attraction between north and south poles.

Repulsion between two north poles.

Repulsion between two south poles.

Let’s remember the golden rule: The field begins from North to south

What happens if two magnets approach? Attraction
