Elston Family Migrations Map

John Elston emigrated from England (29) to Massachusetts in He worked as a fisherman and died in Salem, MA (28) in 1685.

John Elston Jr. was born in Massachusetts (27), married in the Dutch Colony of New Amsterdam (New York City) (26), and later moved to Woodbridge, New Jersey (25) by 1672.

William Elston (24) lived in New Jersey all of his life.

Samuel Elston (23) lived in Elizabethtown, New Jersey all of his life.

William Elston (22) lived in Essex County, New Jersey all of his life.

Benjamin Elston was born on Dec. 25, 1759 in NJ (21). Served in Revolutionary War from with Essex County “minutemen”. Moved to North Carolina (20) in late 1780’s, moved to, and died, in Henry County, Kentucky in 1846 (19).

John Elston was born in Wilkes County, NC in 1795 (18). He later fought in the War of 1812 in Canada under Gen. William Henry Harrison. He moved to Kentucky with his father (17). He moved to Lincoln County, Missouri (16) where he died in 1851.

John Samuel Elston was born in Henry County, KY (15) in 1828 and moved to Lincoln County, MO (14) with his father. He died there in 1871

John Andrew Elston (13) lived most of his life in Lincoln County, MO, but moved to nearby Canton, MO before his death. Birth and death dates are unclear.

Leon Francis Elston was born in 1898 in Canton, MO (12). He moved to Mason City, IL (11) and later Rockford, IL (10) where he worked as a mechanic and later a welder at Rockford Drop Forge.

My grandfather, LaVerne Leon Elston (9) was born in Rockford, IL in He worked at Barber Coleman. He died in Rockford in 2008.

My father, James LaVerne Elston, was born in Rockford, IL in 1942 (4). He lived in Champaign, IL (5) to attend the University of Illinois. He married and moved to St. Louis, MO (6), then to Indianapolis, IN (7), and finally back to Rockford, IL (8). He died in Rockford in 1973.

I, Richard James Elston, was born in Rockford, IL (3) in I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma (2) to attend the University of Tulsa. I came back after college and currently live in Machesney Park, IL (1).
