Revise Your Research Report

Revise by having a writing conference. 1.When you’re the writer- Read your research report to a partner. Discuss any questions or problems you have. Take notes to remember what your partner said.

2. When you’re the listener- Tell at least two things you liked about the report. Ask questions about anything that is confusing.

The Writing Conference If you’re thinking… The introduction is boring. This fact has nothing to do with the main idea. The report jumps from one idea to the next. You could say… Could you start with a question or unusual fact? Are all your facts important to your main idea? Where could you add words to connect your ideas?

The Writing Conference Continued… If you’re thinking… There isn’t enough information here. This sounds like an encyclopedia article. The report just stops. You could say… Could you do more research? Did you make sure to use your own words? What could you write at the end to sum up your research?

What do I do with the writing conference notes? Use your writing conference notes to make the revisions or changes you want or need to make.
