 When and why did textbooks originate?  Who had access to textbooks? Introduction to Le Book

 What was the purpose of textbooks pre-21 st Century?  How did teachers use them during this time?  How did students use them?  What is the purpose of textbooks now?  How do teachers use them?  How do students use them?
