Terence Guanzon 8-17 EGG OSMOSIS EXPERIMENT

To observe osmosis in a cell. 1)Place eggs in vinegar to remove the cell. 2)Measure it’s weight. 3)Measure it’s width. 4)Place egg in water and corn syrup. 5)Weigh and measure it again. PURPOSE

Corn Syrup: I think the egg is going to get heavier for it’s weight. I think that the egg will get a little bit bigger for it’s size. I think the egg will look shiny. HYPOTHESIS

Water: I think that the egg will get Lighter. I think that the egg will stay the same size. I think the for the eggs look will be the same. HYPOTHESIS

Corn Syrup Water Vinegar Balance String/Measuring Tape MATERIALS

Corn SyrupBeforeAfter Weight: 71.3 Weight: 48.8 Size: 17cm Size: 13cm OBSERVATIONS CORN SYRUP

WaterBeforeAfter Weight: 62.2 Weight: 77.0 Size: 14cm Size: 18.5cm OBSERVATIONS WATER EGG

Both Eggs: Squishy Foamy 24 HOURS LATER

PAINT DRAWING

My Corn Syrup hypothesis is wrong: The egg got lighter than heavier. The egg got smaller, not bigger. The corn syrup egg looked different because it looked all squishy and I said it would look all shiney. My Water Egg hypothesis: The egg got heavier, not lighter. I thought the egg would stay the same size, but then it got larger. The water looked the same just like what I said. CONCLUSION
