Presentation transcript:

Respect/Honor

 Kavod means recognition, dignity and honor, but it also means to respect other people.  We have learned that we are Adonis's creations since we were created by him shouldn’t we respect both ourselves and others?  We all need love and respect why?  We also need to be honored by other people, what do you think that this means?  What happens when people do not respect or honor us?  How do we feel?

 The first step to Kavod is learning how to love and respect yourself.  When you see yourself as a creation from God does this help? Why or why not?  If you really love yourself you probably will not look for it outside yourself. What do you think that this means? Discuss it with a partner.  Draw a picture of what you think Love and Respect look like and exchange it with a partner. Explain it to them.

 What do you think would happen if you had more love and respect for yourself?  Would you do better in school?  Would you not fight with your parents as much?  Would you be nicer to some people around you, including your brothers and sisters?  Would you give yourself a break once in awhile?  Can you think of one thing that you can do to show respect for yourself?

 Suppose there is a bully in your class or school. They don’t bother you much, but you see them bother others.  You want to stand up for the other people, but do you go ahead and do this? Why or why not?  Is that bully showing respect for others?  Does that bully have respect for themselves?

 Now, suppose you know that that bully does not really feel good about themselves and that they take it out on others because they have a difficult family life.  Would you try to talk to them about the problem?  Would you talk to the other students?  How about your teachers or parents?  Are there any actions you can take besides talking?  Is there anyway you can convince others to be nice to them?

Irena Sendler saved nearly 2,500 Jewish children from the Nazis The President of the United States…because he is our elected leader. All of our family both from the past and from the present.

 Make a list of these people.  How long is your list?  Who has the longest list?  Which is more important: to have the longest list OR to list people that you really feel good about?  Take your list home and put it away so you can read it next year and see if you can add names to it.
