4  Select Team Members Based Upon Skills.  Identify and Agree Upon Objectives Upon Objectives.  Make it Clear How the Team will Make Decisions!  Hold effective meetings.  Determine team roles.  Assign tasks & responsibilities.  Spend a lot of time together.  Respect team members.  Manage conflicts constructively. 3 Characteristics of Effective Teams

9 Meet as Teams Task 1: Getting acquainted 1. Find out the middle initial of each members. 2. Let other team members know one of your accomplishments that you are most proud of. 3. Share strengths, weaknesses, interests. 4. Pick a team name (and possibly a team logo). 5. Share contact information. 6. Choose a team leader.

10 Task 2: Develop Team Process Guidelines 1. Write out a set of guidelines/rules (your constitution) that governs the performance of your team behavior. 2. Decision-making guidelines 3. Meeting guidelines 4. Conflict-resolution guidelines 4.1 What will the team do when members are doing substandard work and not meeting the performance objectives? 4.2 How will the team determine what substandard performance is? 4.3 What happens if a member misses a meeting? 4.4 What will the team do if they cannot resolve the conflict among themselves?
