Emergency Medical Response Scenario 2: You Are the Emergency Medical Responder The mother of a 5-year-old girl calls 9-1-1 because her daughter has been vomiting and having diarrhea for the past 24 hours. When you arrive on the scene, the mother states, “She hasn’t been able to keep anything down, including sips of water or juice, and now I’m having trouble getting her to stay awake to try and drink.”

Emergency Medical Response Scenario 3: You Are the Emergency Medical Responder You and a partner arrive at the home of a family who has called 9-1-1 because the elderly uncle has “passed out” while sitting at the dinner table. The niece states that he was eating dinner and then all of a sudden his head dropped down. “We called to him but he wouldn’t answer. I think he stopped breathing, but when we lifted his chin up he started to breathe but just barely” The patient is a 92-year-old gentleman with severe arthritis of his neck, back and upper extremities. He wears a hearing aid in his right ear.
