2. Introduction This presentation will help integrate technology into the classroom through the six strands itemized in the Ohio Social Studies Model. Students will be able to use the activities and web sites to aid their learning experience in Social Studies.

Objectives Gain an understanding on how important technology and Social Studies have in common Develop behavior that is consistent with being a responsible citizen Mastery of the six strands listed by the Ohio Model –American Heritage –People in Societies –World Interactions –Decisions Making & Resources –Democratic Processes –Citizenship Rights & Responsibilities

4. This strand refers to the aspects of the past that help to make the American people unique among the world, and also realizing the similarities.

Activities Have the students go home and interview their parents to find out what their own heritage Take a field trip to a local history museum to learn about local history Have the students write a research paper only being able to gain info form the internet Make a map of the United States and add to it the path that explorers such as Lewis and Clark took in discovering the country Have the students find out important things in history for a particular month

7. This strand will allow the students to see the many different types of people that live and coexist together in the United States.

Activities The student could research a country and write a report about it Groups of students could put on a play about a certain country The students can create a world fair with groups f students representing several countries Have the students research how many different cultures are in their class/school Have a class discussion about different religions

10. This strand studies the associations made by people around the world as they attempt to address common problems. Interactions among nations include economic, cultural and intellectual contacts.
