3 AMERICAN HERITAGE ACTIVITIES According to many historians who was Uncle Sam? Discover where and when Uncle Sam was born. What other symbols represent the United States? Can you find pictures of them on the web? Create a timeline chronicling the events that led to the writing of the Declaration of Independence. How many constitutional amendments are there?

4 AMERICAN HERITAGE ACTIVITIES Find quotes of famous authors and/or poets about the American flag. Take a virtual tour of Betsy Ross’ home and describe what you see. Give a brief biography of Betsy Ross. Discover how to cut out a perfect five-point star and then do so. Tell me five facts about the Northwest Ordinance.

7 PEOPLE IN SOCIETY ACTIVITIES Explore five web sites that discuss class diversity. Explore five web sites that discuss language diversity. How many web sites are there listed for religious diversity? Pick one web site from each list and briefly explain what that site offers. Explain how the picture on the right illustrates this strand.

8 PEOPLE IN SOCIETY ACTIVITIES Find five web sites that discuss ethnic or racial diversity. Write a brief synopsis of each of them. Find web sites with recipes for ethnic foods. Pick one you would consider cooking and tell me why you may want to try it. Find web sites that discuss foreign languages. How many different languages are discussed? How many different religions are represented in the web sites listed?

15 WORLD INTERACTIONS ACTIVITIES Find weather maps of the western hemisphere. Note any weather patterns found. What natural resources are found in the western hemisphere? Go to “Geography World” word search puzzle and solve it. Find 10 population facts. Discover 6 ways to conserve our natural resources.

16 WORLD INTERACTIONS ACTIVITIES Use Mapquest to create a map that takes you from your house to the state capital. Use Mapquest to find out how to go from FHS to the White House. In the Library of Congress map collection trace the flow of immigration in our nation. In the Library of Congress map collection trace the flow of exploration and discovery. Find where the three top oil producing nations in the world.
