3 TKT It is a test that focuses on the teaching knowledge needed by English teachers, anywhere in the world. It aims to increase teacher confidence and enhances his job prospects. A test of professional knowledge for English Language teachers.

4 Who is TKT for? TTeachers who would like to take an internationally recognized qualification to gain formal recognition for their experience. TTeacher who Want to keep their teaching skills up to date. IIt can be taken at any stage in a teacher’s career. IIt is ideal for people who don’t have experience in teaching English but they would like to teach. TKT is suitable for:

5 TKT Modules 1- Core modules: A- Background to language teaching. B- Planning for language teaching. C- Classroom management. D- Practical – Assessment of teaching competence. 2- Specialist modules: A- Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). B- Knowledge About Language. C- Young Learners.

6 Core Modules A- Background to language teaching: What does? Components:  Tests knowledge of the terms and concepts common in ELT.  focuses on the core knowledge underpinning the learning of English, options and resources teacher can use in the classroom. The test is divided into three parts: 1-Describing language and language skills (40 questions) 2-Background to language learning (15 questions) 3-Background to language teaching (25 questions )

7 Core Modules B- Planning for language teaching: What does? Components:  Focuses on the knowledge and skills teacher need to plan a lesson framework or series.  Focuses on the resources that are available to guide teacher in his lesson planning. The test is divided into two parts: 1- Planning and preparing a lesson or sequence of lessons (40 questions)) 2- Selection and use of resources (40 questions).

8 Core Modules C- Classroom management: What does? Components:  Tests teacher knowledge of: a- What happens in the classroom. b- His role. c- Ways of management and exploiting classroom events and interactions. The test is divided into two parts: 1- Teachers’ and learners’ language in the classroom (40 questions). 2- Classroom management (40 questions).

9 Module 1, 2 and 3 are:  Consisting of a single paper, containing 80 questions and lasting 80 minutes.  Available as a paper-based test.  Available as a computer-based test.

10 Core Modules D- Practical – Assessment of teaching competence: What does? Components:  includes assessment of: a- Classroom management. b- Lesson planning. c- Teaching skills.  offers teachers the opportunity to gain certification for their practical teaching abilities. The test consists of: 1- Observation of teacher teaching by assessor. 2- The assessor can observe either one 40- minute lesson or two 20-minute lessons. 3- The test can be as part of a teacher training or development course.

11 Specialists Modules A- Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL ): A test of the understanding of exciting approach to teaching curriculum subjects through the medium of a second or third language.

Components:  Tests: a- Knowledge about content teaching in a target language. b- Thinking and language skills. c- Knowledge of how to plan lessons. d- Knowledge of lesson delivery. c- how assessment is in CLIL contexts. The test is divided into four parts: 1- knowledge of the principles of CLIL. 2- Lesson preparation in a CLIL context. 3- Lesson delivery. 4- Assessment.

13 Specialists Modules B- Knowledge About Language (kal) : A test of knowledge and understanding of the systems of language from a teaching perspective.

14 Specialists Modules What does? Components:  Tests knowledge of the language systems needed by teachers.  Focuses on: a- Teacher awareness of the language needs of learners. b- Challenges students encounter in learning a second language. The test is divided into four parts: Testing knowledge of English from a teaching perspective in the areas of: 1- Lexis. 2- Phonology. 3- Grammar. 4- Discourse.

15 Specialists Modules C- Young Learners: A test of the strategies and skills knowledge required to teach young learners.

Components:  Tests: a- Background knowledge related to teaching young learners in the 6–12 age range. b- Understanding of planning lessons, different teaching strategies and assessing learning. The test is divided into four parts: 1- Learning and development in young learners. 2- Planning lessons for young learners. 3- Teaching strategies for young learners. 4- Classroom-based assessment for young learners.
