6 What is there in the Past Papers? Writing Task 1 (Academic module). You should spend 20 minutes on this task. The graph below shows the demand for electricity in England during typical days in winter and summer. The pie chart shows how electricity is used in an average English home. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

Write about the following topic: Creative artists should be given the freedom to express their own ideas (in words, pictures, music or film) in whichever way they wish. There should be no government restrictions on what they do. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

Examples of test tips The answers will come in question order on the recording (Listening) Underlining the main idea in each paragraph will help guide you to the information you need to find (Reading) Even if you believe the answer is not TRUE according to your knowledge and experience, you must find the evidence in the passage (Reading) When you write your introduction, avoid copying whole phrases from the question (Writing) Using appropriate linkers is important but dont start every sentence with one (Writing) If you give very short answers, you will lose scores. Aim to give 2-4 sentences for each answer (Speaking)
