1 Bellringer 5/23/13 1. After watching footage of old commercials, how do you think advertising has changed over time? 2. Does a government have the right to regulate the advertising industry? Why or why not? If so, should there be limits? 3. Which advertising techniques do you think are most effective for selling products?

2 Advertising Project Overview, Time-frame, and Rubric

3 Advertising Group Project (100 pts.) Advertising plays a very large part in determining what products we buy and consume. There are numerous methods of advertising that companies use on a daily basis to try to convince consumers to buy their products. Advertising can be found on the radio, television, and in print.

4 Directions First… Requirements: 1. In groups no larger than 4 people, create a unique product that you would like to sell. (You may also work alone.) 2. Groups will then create a radio, television, or print advertisement. 1. Each product must have an original logo design. 2. Each product must have a jingle or slogan. 3. Each project must have a written reflection answering the questions on the following page.

5 Written Reflection (Guiding Questions) What type of advertisement is it (informative, competitive, etc.)? Who is your target audience? Where would you advertise your product and why? Where would you sell your product? How did you come up with the design? What advertising techniques did you use? What did you learn from doing this project?

6 Project Time Frame & Guidelines Time FrameDaily Overview We will start the project on Thursday, 5/23/13. I will give you 4 class periods, from Tuesday 5/28- Friday 5/31. We will present on Wednesday 6/05. Day 1- Decide on product & begin logo design Day 2- Finish logo design & start work on a slogan/ jingle. Days 3 & 4- Work on the advertisement & written reflection.

7 Hints & Expectations Hints…Expectations: Break the responsibilities up amongst group members. This is a test score, so put forth your best effort. Be as creative as possible. Have fun with this! Each member of the group contributes. Advertisements are creative & fun. All components of the project are completed. Time is not wasted.
