2. Nucleus The nucleus is like the government because the government controls America like the nucleus controls the cell.

3. Cell Membrane The cell membrane is like immigration control because the cell membrane controls what comes in and out of the cell like immigration control controls who or what comes in and out of our country.

4. Cell Wall (only in plant cells) The cell wall is like our military because our military protects and supports our country just like a cell wall supports and protects the cell.

5. Endoplasmic Reticulum The endoplasmic reticulum is like our interstates because our interstates are used for travel just like the endoplasmic reticulum is used for proteins to travel.

6. Golgi Apparatus The Golgi apparatus is like a post office because a post office packages and ships things like the Golgi apparatus packages and ships proteins.

7. Mitochondrion Mitochondrion is like a power plant because a power plant produces energy like the mitochondrion do.

8. Vacuole A vacuole is like a landfill because a landfill stores food, water, and waste like a vacuole does for the cell.

9. Ribosome The ribosome is like a restaurant because a restaurant produces food which is used for energy like a ribosome produces proteins used for energy.

10. Animal and Plant Cells A plant cell has a cell wall on the outside for structure and support, while an animal cell has a cytoskeleton on the inside for structure and support. Animal cells can be any shape, and plant cells are strictly square. Plant cells go through photosynthesis and cells respiration; an animal cell does cell respiration only. Cell respiration always occurs in the mitochondrion. Animal cells have many, small vacuoles and a plant cell only has one large, control vacuole.
