Origins Way of life Normadic..why ? Beliefs on land 1 2 3 4 5 Dependence of buffalo

The Natives came to the American West round about 20 000- 10 000 BC. The earliest settlers came during the ice age. They originally came from the plains of Asia. They lived in the Eastern river valleys

The plain Indians survived by making tepees out of buffalo skin and fur. The tepees were very well adapted for nomadic life it was easy to take down the fires are built inside the tepees in the centre and the smoke escapes through a hole in the top in the small space there are often crowded tepees with 8 or 9 people in them, teepees become really dirty because of this. The job of women was to make the tepees and collect wild fruits berries seeds and plants while the men searched for meat

Plain Indian’s are nomadic because they survive on buffalo for food shelter and clothes so where ever the buffalo go so do the plain Indians. There are other things to eat as well with the whites and kept all the weapons to themselves.

All Indians BELIEVED IN SPIRITSWHICH WOULD BRING GOOD AND EVIL TO THE TRIBE. THEY BELIEVE IN ONE GREAT SPIRIT CALLED THE WAKAN TANKA WHICH HAS POSSESSION OVER EVERYTHING. RELIGIOUS WORSHIP WAS PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE.

Buffalo were the very key for life as an Indian because Indians used Buffalo’s for meat and to use there skin and fur for tepee’s and clothes, where ever the Buffalo’s went so did the Indians this is how important Buffalo were to the plain Indians.
