3. Food The Northeast Woodland Indian’s main foods which are called the three sisters are corn, beans, and squash. They also gathered mushrooms, berries, and nuts. They hunted deer and wild game and fished in rivers, lakes, and the Atlantic ocean.

4. Shelter The Northeast woodlands lived in either a longhouse or a wigwam. The longhouse is a stretched out wigwam and is home to many families. The wigwam is a round shelter. Wigwams and longhouses were made of bark covering wooden pole frames. A hole was in the center for smoke to escape from the fire inside.

5. Clothing Most Iroquois clothes were made from deerskin. Iroquois clothes were decorated with beads and dyed porcupine quills. Men wore breechcloths or leggings and women wore buckskin dresses. Shoes made from buckskin were called moccasins.

6. Important Facts The Northeast Indians were the first to meet the white explorers and settlers from Europe. Without Squanto, the Pilgrims probably wouldn’t have survived.
