9. Injuries No athlete returns to participation after visiting a physician for an injury until the Athletic Director and the Athletic Trainer receive a release in writing from the doctor.

10. Any player showing signs of concussion MUST be removed from all activity and parents will be advised to visit an emergency facility, or be transported by ambulance to the hospital without delay. Parents should receive Notification of Head Injury Form

11. No player returns to play from a concussion without the Athletic Director receiving the Return to Play Form signed by a Concussion Specialist AND the Athletic Trainer’s approval.

The on-line social network sites are NOT a place where you can say and do whatever you want without repercussions. Any of the above actions, but not limited to, may be considered conduct detrimental to the team.

15.  HAZING: Hazing as defined by State Law will not be tolerated at Glen Burnie High School. Violations will result in administrative action and possible prosecution.  Maryland Hazing Law :§ 268H. Hazing students prohibited  (a) Haze defined. -- In this section "haze" means doing any act or causing any situation which recklessly or intentionally subjects a student to the risk of serious bodily injury for the purpose of initiation into a student organization of a school, college, or university.  (b) Violation constitutes misdemeanor; penalty. -- A person who hazes a student so as to cause serious bodily injury to the student at any school, college, or university is guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, is subject to a fine of not more than $500, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both.  (c) Consent of student not defense. -- The implied or expressed consent of a student to hazing may not be a defense under this section. 19. ACADEMIC PROBATION *A GBHS student on academic probation: 1. Must attend 12 academic assistance sessions monitored by the academic advisor. 2. May participate in interscholastic athletic practices 3. Must attend a conference with the academic advisor to review their eligibility status on the 16 th day of probation. *Students who are still not academically eligible at the conclusion of the 16-day academic probation period are ineligible to practice or play for the remainder of that sport season.

TRANSFER POLICY  TRANSFER FROM OTHER SCHOOLS ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY ELIGIBLE TO PLAY Students, who transfer from an out-of- county or private school, are subject to the academic eligibility standards of their preceding school system until they establish eligibility through grades issued on an AACPS report card.

21. AACPS students who transfer to another AACPS are PROHIBITED from trying out for the same team at the new school if they have participated, in any way, at the previous school that season.

22. TRANSPORTATION  SELF TRANSPORTATION FOR EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES: NOTICE MUST BE APPROVED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE, BY THE COACH ABSENCES FROM SCHOOL & PARTICIPATION  STUDENT/ATHLETES MUST BE IN SCHOOL ALL DAY…..  AND WILL RESULT IN DECLARATION OF INELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE ON THAT GIVEN DAY, WHETHER PRACTICE OR GAME, IF THEY ARE ABSENT FROM A CLASS PERIOD ON ANY GIVEN DAY, FOR ANY REASON.

23. Daily Attendance Student/Athletes MUST be in school ALL day in order to qualify to practice or play in a game. This includes legally coded late arrivals or early dismissals. Permission WILL be granted for extenuating circumstances ONLY when the request is received by Mr. Love at least 24 hours in advance of the absence.

24. SECTION 6: ATTENDANCE C. As a result of administration verification of a class cutting or truancy, for any part of the school day, the student will be ineligible to compete in the next event. A second offense of a class cutting or truancy, or a combination of the two, during the same sport season, will result in the removal of the student from the team for the remainder of the sport season. Multiple days of class cutting or multiple days of truancy satisfy the rule for second offense and the student athlete will be removed from the team for the remainder of the sport season.

WEATHER RELATED ITEMS: When schools are canceled for weather, or released early - there is NO practice and all games are canceled – [Canceled games are rescheduled to the NEXT AVAILABLE DAY] When there is a delayed opening – – [There Will Be Practice and Games Will Be Conducted] When there are extended days off due to weather, coaches will be informed when practice restrictions have been lifted.

28. ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL IS A PRIVILEGE NOT A RIGHT * No student/athlete is guaranteed playing time. Our coaches will continue to use their best judgment regarding playing time. *We are an Education Based Athletic Program. We do not determine playing time strictly on attendance, skill level or winning. *Playing time is earned through dedication, commitment, loyalty, work ethic, improvement and evaluation and determination by the coaches

29. ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL IS A PRIVILEGE NOT A RIGHT *Playing time will be lost when student/athletes are absent, show poor work ethics or commit acts that do not reflect that of a person of good character.

30. SECTION 7: CONDUCT OF ATHLETES D. A student athlete who has been suspended or expelled from school for violation of any Board of Education policy or regulation governing assaults by students, possession and use of weapons and dangerous implements by students, alcoholic beverages, controlled dangerous substances or other intoxicants, use of tobacco by students or expelled for any other reason, will be prohibited from participating in interscholastic sports programs for at least the remainder of the season in which the infraction occurred, and may be subject to such other athletic sanctions as the principal deems appropriate.

Spectators are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmanship. 3. Booing, taunting, inappropriate cheers, or attempts to intimidate athletes, coaching staffs, event personnel, administrators, officials and opponents are unacceptable behaviors. Spectators should support and cheer for their teams in a positive manner.
