4 High Schools students are eligible to participate if they have passed a minimum of five one-credit courses, or the equivalent, the previous grading period with a 1.5 GPA. Make sure your child is scheduled for at least five classes. *1st /2nd Quarter – Determines Winter Eligibility *3rd Quarter – Determines Spring Eligibility *4th Quarter – Determines Fall Eligibility “Stay Involved, we will”

5 To retain eligibility for participation on a Midview athletic team, students must conduct themselves as good citizens both in and out of school at all times. This policy is in effect and applied to student conduct 365 days a year for students in grades Student-athletes are expected to serve as good role models to other students and to the members of the community. Any student-athlete who, after a hearing at which he or she shall be confronted with the allegation, the basis of the allegation, and given an opportunity to tell their side, is found to have violated the school’s Code of Conduct will be deemed ineligible for a period of time. KNOW THE RULES: The Board of Education approved Code of Conduct, which will cover drugs, alcohol, tobacco, theft, etc., will be reviewed with you and your child at the sport specific meetings. Parents should also be aware their children’s interactions on new media websites such as MySpace and Facebook. “Be A Role Model”

6 *Show respect for yourself and others at all times *Show respect for the officials - accept and abide by the decision of the official *Know, understand and appreciate the rules of the contest and play by them *Maintain self-control at all times *Prevent the desire to win from overcoming rational behavior *Recognize and appreciate skill in performance regardless of team affiliation *Be a Fan not a Fanatic EJECTION POLICY: 1 ST – 2 Games 2 nd – May result in permanent loss of participation privileges for remainder season/year. “Respect The Game”

7 If a player quits or is dismissed from an athletic team after the first scrimmage (or game if there is not scrimmage), the player will be unable to participate in any other Midview athletic activity until that season is completed. “Respect The Game”

8 Communication Coaches Expect From Parents * Concerns expressed directly to the coach * Notification of any schedule conflicts well in advance * Specific concerns in regards to program philosophy Appropriate Concerns To Discuss With Coaches * The treatment of your child, mentally and physically * Ways to help your child improve * Concerns about your child’s behavior Issues Not Appropriate To Discuss With Coaches * Playing time * Team strategy * Play calling * Other student-athletes “Working Together”

9 Appropriate Procedures For Discussing Concerns with Coaches: *Call to set up an appointment with the coach (contact the athletic director to set up the meeting if unable to reach the head coach) *Do not confront a coach before or after a contest or practice (these can be emotional times for all parties involved and do not promote resolution) If The Meeting With The Coach Did Not Provide A Satisfactory Resolution: *Call to set up an appointment with the athletic director and coach *Determine the appropriate next step at this meeting *Only under special circumstances will athletic director meet alone with parents “Working Together”

10 Tier I ($550 for 1 st activity, $100 for 2 nd activity, 3 rd activity free): Baseball, Basketball (Boys and Girls), Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, Soccer (Boys and Girls), Softball, Tennis (Boys and Girls), Track and Field (Boys and Girls), Volleyball, Wrestling Tier II ($250 for 1 st activity, $25 for 2 nd activity, 3 rd activity free: Cross-Country (Boys and Girls), Cheerleading (Fall), Cheerleading (Winter), Skippers Dance Team ($85) “Not Pay To Play”

11 A student is eligible for a full refund of fees if the following happens: 1. Student is injured before first contest and is unable to return for the season 2. Student is cut from the team during tryouts 3. Student leaves the team before five days of practice have been completed 4. Student is forced to leave the team due to family hardship before a game has been played (Must meet with Athletic Director) 5. Student is ruled ineligible and is released from the team under OHSAA or Midview Eligibility guidelines before five days of practice have been completed A student will not receive a refund if: 1. If student quits the team after five days of practice have been completed 2. Student is removed from the team for disciplinary reasons (school or team discipline) 3. Student becomes ineligible during the season and cannot play under OHSAA or Midview Eligibility guideline “Working With You”

12 Their objective is to enrich the student-athletes and the community at large by helping to provide financial support in areas not covered by the budget. These are still challenging economic times so please join and support the Midview Athletics’ Booster Club. A Booster Club consists of a group of parents, staff, alumni and friends of Midview that provides support by working to raise money to purchase much needed equipment, uniforms, and/or capital items beyond what the budget can provide. For more information on the Booster Clubs call the athletic director’s office at Meet every second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the MHS Cafeteria. “A Great Way To Help”
