3 A paragraph is an organized piece of writing with an introduction, body, and conclusion. In total, your paragraph should be six to eight sentences long. Anything less would jeopardize intended complete information; furthermore, anything more could dampen the logic or sound overstated. Be sure to write complete sentences - a complete sentence has a subject (main noun), a predicate (a verb), and expresses a complete thought. Punctuation needs to be correct in order to establish complete sentences; so, don’t forget to make sure your grammar and mechanics are satisfactory. Key Points

4 Paragraph writing involves four basic concepts (Also known as the TRIC method): 1. Topic 2. Restriction 3. Illustration 4. Conclusion The TRIC Method

5 The topic is the main idea of the paragraph. This is usually no more than one to two sentences long.Topic

6 The restriction gives a specification of the general topic called sub ideas. It describes, explains, or clarifies the topic to vindicate the point. Because the standard is three sub ideas for every one main idea, this spans usually three to six sentences long.Restriction

7 The illustration is an example that evidence, whether a quote, statistic, personal experience, or documented case. This varies from one sentence to several sentences. 8 The conclusion is a rephrasing of the topic sentence that wraps up the paragraph. This should be no more than one to two sentences long. Conclusion

10 The Russian Federation has a very diverse climate. 1 European Russia exhibits humid continental conditions with short summers and cold and snowy winters. 2 Siberia has very short cool summers with cold and snowy winters, otherwise known as a subarctic climate. 3 In the northern fringes of Russia lay the tundra, where it is very cold and dry throughout the year. Siberia itself is extremely diverse: temperatures in the summer average close to 90ºF, while in the winter, it averages about - 60ºF.
