9. B. Education 1. Religion influenced the creation of many colleges and universities ***Harvard, Princeton, William and Mary*** 2. It was against the law to teach slaves. Slaves were not allowed to read or write.

10. C. Family Life ***Family was very important*** 1. All family members including wives and children contributed to the family. 2. Women could hold jobs but did not have full rights under the law.

11. D. Thoughts on Government 1. People believed in natural rights (Locke) 2. Egalitarianism- spirit of freedom and equality. 3. Colonists had a strong belief in the successfulness of the Parliament.
