An applied science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely —called also biotechnology, human engineering, human factors. Basically putting human’s in consideration and making it a way comfortable environment for each individual to live by.

Ergonomics is important because when you’re doing a job or school work and your body is stressed by an awkward posture, extreme temperature, or repeated movement your musculoskeletal system is affected. Your body may begin to have symptoms such as fatigue, discomfort, and pain, which can be the first signs of a musculoskeletal disorder.

Carpal tunnel syndrome This is a painful condition of the hands and wrists caused by pressure on the median nerve, which runs from the shoulder down the arm to the hands. Symptoms: In addition to pain, the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include numbness, tingling and weakness in the hands. These symptoms are usually felt in the first three fingers and the base of the thumb. Often the pain and other symptoms are worse at night or during sleep. It can occur in one wrist or both (bilateral carpal tunnel). In advanced cases, carpal tunnel syndrome can make common activities impossible, such as holding a frying pan, folding laundry or lifting an infant.

Musculoskeletal disorder? Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are conditions that affect your body’s muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. MSDs can develop over time or can occur immediately due to overload

This chair is uncomfortable. Why is this chair so stiff? Cant there be some cushion on the chair to provide comfort? This desk is too small. Not enough room for me and my work.

Increased savings Fewer injuries More productive and sustainable employees Fewer students’ compensation claims Ergonomic improvements can reduce the primary risk factors for MSDs, so students are more efficient, productive, and have greater job satisfaction.

Ergonomics doesn’t have to be costly and can even save you money. Low cost measures for the schools. Risk reduction techniques. Comprehensive ergonomics program.

Students may be withdrawn from school due to the poor ergonomics because of the diseases caused by this. Most likely will prevent these students from learning in public or even private schools.
