4 We do not receive recurrent government funding We operate as a social enterprise organisation Social Enterprise Organisation Definition (source: www.socialtraders.com.au) Social enterprises are organisations that: a. 5 Our social enterprises play an essential role in our vibrant neighbourhood centre...  They strengthen our community and enable us to operate to a very high capacity, with strong participation and opportunities for community aspirations to be respected and enacted.  They enable us to enhance our existing programs when required - increasing resources and enabling us to respond promptly and appropriately to complex needs.  The opp shop, men’s shed and second-hand furniture store greatly reduce pressure on landfill through recycling donated goods and furniture.  The markets attract thousands of patrons (locals and visitors), contributing positively to the local economy and offering high exposure for market stall holders and local community groups.  The technology centre enables low income earners to keep abreast of changes in digital communications and helps people to maintain their devices to keep them connected to family, friends and the www.
