1 Sex and the Media Learning Objective: To evaluate how sex and relationships are portrayed in the media.

2 Activity Create a news report about how the media influences young people’s perceptions of sex and relationships. It can be any opinion you like. It must include how the media distorts reality, what forms they do it in (adverts, films, music videos/songs) Why and how it needs to change. You can work in groups of no more than 5 for the performed news report or in pairs for the news paper article.

3 Critics Choice Group 1: You are a music critic and you are writing an article on how sex is portrayed in the music industry. Include songs of your choice and from lessons. It needs to include: How it influences young people’s perceptions about sex and relationships. Does it distort reality? How and why it should change. Present as an article or short documentary. Group 2: You are a film critic and you are writing an article on how sex and relationships are portrayed in films. Include films of your choice and from lessons. Group 3: You are a TV critic and you are writing an article on how sex and relationships are portrayed in advertising. Include adverts of your choice and from lessons.
