Yearbook Sales: Personal Letters

LEARN Everyone wants to be covered by the yearbook staff in a meaningful way. We ought to be proud of our good work and encourage those we cover to invest in us as we have invested in them. Sharing your good work with the people you cover in the book through a personal letter will generate enthusiasm and build sales.

LEARN Starting with a form letter, we can inform our audience about how we covered them in the yearbook and what they can do to purchase their yearbook.

SAMPLE FORM LETTER Grand Blanc High School [MI] Red sections change for each person targeted.

SAMPLE PERSONALIZED LETTER This letter does not provide a convincing or compelling reason for Jeremy to purchase a yearbook. Where did this letter go wrong? Grand Blanc High School [MI]

USE UPDATED SALES LIST Print an updated list of students who have not purchased a yearbook yet. The list can be found in Sell > See Reports > Yearbook Sales Report. Use the list to select whom you will be targeting. Each staffer can review their coverage from the year to determine who they’ve covered meaningfully – these are the first students to target.

PRACTICE Use the form letter as inspiration to tailor a letter to someone you have covered meaningfully in the yearbook. Change sections in red to fit your coverage. Or, choose a less formal approach for people with whom you are more familiar.

USE Print the letter and include a screenshot of the photo, story or module in which the student is pictured. Include an order form for easy purchasing options. Hand-deliver or mail home.
