2 Adjectives Adjectives are words that modify nouns and pronouns.
My stupid brother broke the TV. My brother is loathsome. I have thirty-three oranges. He is smart.

3 Adjectives Adjectives can be identified because they answer the questions How many? Which one? What kind? You need a red book. I saw the ugly painting. Give me thirty apples.

4 Adverbs Adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. I walked slowly down the street. Bill Is marvelously intelligent. She will arrive very early.

5 Adverbs Adverbs can be identified because they answer the questions
How? When? Where? We will remain here. John turned quickly. I told you yesterday.

6 Adjectives to Adverbs In English, we can often turn an adjective into an adverb by adding –ly to the adjective. That’s an easy exam. You can pass that exam easily. We were given a warm welcome. We were welcomed warmly. This can be done in Latin, too.

7 Adjectives to Adverbs To change an adjective of the first and second declension into an adverb, add –ē to its stem. stultus => stultē pulcher => pulchrē

8 Adjectives to Adverbs To change a an adjective of the third declension into an adverb, add –iter or –ter to its stem. fortis => fortiter audāx => audacter

9 magnus => magnopere
A Few Irregularities bonus => bene paruus => paulum multus => multum magnus => magnopere
