2 UNCLASSIFIED UNCLASSIFIED USSOCOM ISTP USSOCOM J7/9 created the Individual and Staff Training program (ISTP) to improve training for the Headquarters’ staff  The Command partnered with JKDDC to create a training community of interest, build content with ROCCE, and leverage the LMS to improve training management and delivery ISTP includes Newcomers’ Training, all mandatory training, and Directorate training. It will further training outreach in the Command ISTP will be the USSOCOM training “system of record” when training records are transferred, mandatory courses are built, and Training managers are trained 2

3 UNCLASSIFIED UNCLASSIFIED 3 ISTP Objective Implement an easily accessible, comprehensive, and integrated training program for the USSOCOM Headquarters staff  Centralize and host training access through training portals  Improve and streamline Newcomers’ training –Deliver a standardized curriculum of SOF, Joint, and AO training  Support Directorate training efforts for the Headquarters –Develop Directorate training web pages –Deliver targeted JMET-based training based on position/duties  Develop capability to schedule and track training, and derive training metrics  Expand training opportunities –Expand, enhance, and facilitate professional development –Develop additional and advanced training for the staff

5 UNCLASSIFIED UNCLASSIFIED An Integrated Training Approach Mandatory Training DoD, JS, and other USSOCOM and base- level training modules Support Directorate Training Provide space and access for Directorate training sites and allow them to leverage JKDDC tools Forum to discuss training issues Newcomers’ Training Improved and streamline Newcomers’ Training and the 3 day intro Add online training access Other Training Opportunities Deliver JMET-based training to staff Create other Professional Development training (virtual staff rides, etc) Training Portals (NIPR and SIPR) 5 ISTP amalgamates training for the USSOCOM Headquarters staff Once fully implemented, ISTP will provide the USSOCOM Staff a ready resource to support their training needs

6 UNCLASSIFIED UNCLASSIFIED Phase II ISTP Goals Transition current mandatory training (J6/SOCPED) to the ISTP NIPR training portal by 1 Jun 10  Personnel need a JKO account to access this training  Personal data remains on SOCPED; training records transferred Transition current Newcomers’ Orientation (SJS lead) to Newcomers’ Training Program (J7/9 lead) by 1 Jun 10  Working with JSOU to improve a curriculum for Newcomers’ training Support Directorate Training  Directorates have their own training space on the training community of interest  Directorate participation and training Directorate reps helps decentralize training in the HQ 6

7 UNCLASSIFIED UNCLASSIFIED Summary ISTP is centralizing, streamlining, and improving the training and training opportunities for the Headquarters staff ISTP is in Phase II, “Build and Transition” We are on an aggressive timeline. By 1 Jun 2010, we anticipate that J7/9 will:  Schedule and run Newcomers’ Orientation, host Newcomers’ Training on the portal, and make improvements  Mandatory/annual training courses built and running on the portal  USSOCOM training portal is the training “system of record” to support the Headquarters 7
